Though shorebirds are no longer hunted the fascination with this bird as a decoy remains
alluring. My attraction to shorebirds perhaps results from the proximity to the shorelines of
Cape Cod where I discovered that with time came the ability to separate the common species
of shorebirds and with further observation discern the distinct seasonal changes in their
plumage and colorization.
